Barry along with his two roommates, Chris and Jeremy, graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in December. Joyce and I reserved our flight arrangements about a month before Barry's accident. By the time June and July rolled by we expected that we were going to attend the graduation for Chris and Jeremy. And hopefully attend Barry's graduation sometime later. To everyone's surprise except for Barry, we attended Barry's graduation also. Barry's graduation included two ceremonies, one on Thursday, Dec 20th for the architect students and one on Friday, Dec 21st for all the December graduates. Chris and Jeremy also attended their own school's graduation on Thursday.
Let's see if we can summarize some of the activities during the graduation partial week. Colby, Courtney, Joyce and I arrived in Boulder late Tuesday night. Chris's mom, Colly and her god-daughter, Shanna, had already arrived. By late Wednesday night, Wayne, Tikie and Libby arrived as well as Jeremy's parents, Al and Elaine, and Chris's father, Chuck and his wife, Becky, and Chris's twin brother, Ben.
Thursday morning we attended Barry's graduation followed by a reception. We had a few drinks in Wayne and Tikie's room in the Boulderado Hotel that afternoon. We attended Chris's graduation early Thursday evening followed by pizza at the Old Chicago. We missed Jeremy's graduation because it was at the same time as Barry's.
Friday morning was the graduation at the Event Center for all graduates including Barry, Chris and Jeremy. The three of them sat together in the second row of the architect school's section. Each of them rose separately as their school was announced for graduation. After the graduation, there was a ton of pictures of all three as well as some significant pictures of Barry at the bottom of the steps where he had fallen from his bike in June. That afternoon all three families met in Wayne and Tikie's room for a buffet lunch - it was like 20 of us.
The three graduates had arranged a graduation party in one of the meeting rooms at the Boulderado Hotel for a total of 31 people. The party included a sitdown dinner and drink tickets. And fun and celebration was had by each family for each graduate. Not least of all was the phenomenal joy that filled Joyce and Wayne for Barry.
Christmas got in the way of organizing all of the pictures so only a couple of pictures are included for the time being.
